Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson – Review
This book was marvelous. It caught my interest from the very beginning with the author’s unique use of magic. The world created in Mistborn isn’t entirely original, as many fantasy books involve a land where there is an evil ruler who oppresses a lower class, but in Mistborn it’s the abilities the characters have and how they use these [...]

Science fiction and fantasy book publisher, Tor, has recently announced that Brandon Sanderson will be returning to the world of Scadrial with a standalone novel and a brand new trilogy in the Mistborn saga, as well as starting an entirely new series with The Rithmatist. Brandon has been nice enough to share his thoughts in [...]
Brandon Sanderson – video interview
Let me confess a secret to you guys–this was my very first person to person interview since that long ago journalism class in college. Ordinarily I conduct my interviews by email, and very occasionally through Skype. When I was given a chance to interview Brandon Sanderson while down at the Bailey’s Crossing Borders for his [...]
Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn – Movie Rights Optioned
Recently Brandon Sanderson made an announcement on his blog that Paloppa Pictures has taken an option to the film rights of his three Mistborn fantasy novels. Script work is apparently already underway. The principals in Paloppa Pictures, especially one Christopher Geary, seem to have a great deal of enthusiasm for the project, so hopefully everything will pan out. Personally I think the books will translate very well to film. I also think they would be especially well suited to an animated production, but I doubt that idea is under consideration.

DragonCon 2009 – The Wheel of Time: The Gathering Storm Preview

A couple of days ago I posted a press release regarding Brandon Sanderson’s book tour schedule, promoting The Gathering Storm, the next installment of Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time. With that release was a note that we’d have an announcement at this week’s DragonCon regarding the series. Our own Medora was on the spot and has the scoop.

Contest – Garden Ninja Studios Miniatures: Part 2 – Patina finished Mistborn Miniatures
BSCreview and Garden Ninja Studios with another weekly contest. This week you can win a full set of Patina finished Mistborn Miniatures. The figures are heroic 28mm scale (each is about 1″ in height.) and the set includes the four sculpts available–Vin, Kelsier, a Steel Inquisitor, and a Koloss. I am sure it is pretty cool for an author to see his characters in 3-D

Brandon Sanderson Interview – Bookexpo America 2009 Video
This was my first year at Bookexpo America (BEA) and how better to spend BEA time than to be interviewing one of the most talked about authors in the speculative fiction field? Brandon Sanderson was nice enough to take the time out of his busy schedule to sit down with BSC for a 20+ minute video interview.

Book Review – Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson
Warbreaker is Brandon Sanderson’s second standalone fantasy novel. It is unrelated to any of his other books. The process of writing this book was somewhat unusual, earlier version of the story were released under a creative commons license on the author’s website….
Short Thoughts on Short Fiction Vol. 4
Brian started a column on short fiction a short while ago and I thought is was such I good idea that I’d better ste… err… borrow it from him. I am not a fan of reading of a screen but with short fiction I can manage without getting a headache and if you care to look for it there is a wealth of short fiction offered for free on the Internet. I more of less randomly picked five that looked interesting for my first contribution to this column….
