The Moorcock Effect by Bryan Talbot – BSC Flashback
When I have the time (and remember!) I try to get a BSC Flashback, where we take you back to some highlights during the BSC reign. The last couple have taken us back to some Heliotrope pieces, and it’s where we are going back to again with this piece by Bryan Talbot, titled “The Moorcock [...]
A Virtual Anthology: Jeffrey Ford & Ian R. MacLeod – BSC Flashback
Sunday usually means we put up a BSC Flashback, and today we are going back to where we went last week, just flipping some pages. Last week we talked Jeff Vandermeer and Shadow Cabinets. This week we go to the Virtual Anthology, an idea by top shelf author Jeffrey Ford that I first saw over [...]
Jeff VanderMeer’s Shadow Cabinet – BSC Flashback!
Wanted to bring back the Sunday BSC Flashback, but this time point to one of our other projects within the BSC Empire – Heliotrope. In our e-zine, Jeff VanderMeer was kind enough to contribute 2 pieces for “The Shadow Cabinet”, one focusing on Dedalus books (from our fourth issue), the other on John Calvin Batchelor’s [...]
Star Wars/Deathtroopers Interview with Joe Schreiber – BSC Flashback
With Schreiber’s Deatroopers released last month, and with Star Wars on my mind (reading a galley for another book now), I thought I’d highlight a BSC Beat interview (10 questions, topic specific format) that I conducted in January, called “The Horror of Star Wars”. Please note that pre-pub interviews have to be very general, but still a fun chat talking some basics! Check it out now!
BSC Flashback – Synergy II & VanderMeer’s Building a Fantastical City

The day after Halloween, and it’s time for some BSC flashbacks. Since Synergy returned yesterday, I thought we’d highlight a previous edition – “The Love (stories) of our Lives?”. Also, since Jeff VanderMeer’s Finch is out (see review) and about now (bordering on officially/unofficially & reality/fiction) I thought we’d rerun an article BSC republished and now hosts by the author, “Ambergris: Building a Fantastical City”.

BSC Flashback – Mid-Season Favorite Reads of 2009
The BSC Delorean doesn’t travel back that far with this edition of Flash Back, as I felt that with the excitement of Fall TV season starting it might be an opportune time to point back to the books that impressed our panel in the first half of 2009. In July, Brian put together the Summer 6-Pack, where BSC staff and a group of special guest writerly types (Sean Chercover, Robert Fate, Tim Maleeny, Brett Battles, Nate Flexer, Keith Rawson, Kieran Shea, Bill Cameron) shared their favorite reads of the year thus far. No genre restrictions, baby. This is for readers.
BSC Flashback – Black Crime Fiction
Another BSC Flashback. I figure I’m going sprinkle these in every now and then, sometimes due to current relevance (like the first involving our Esslemont material) or just to bring up a classic.
Get it after the jump . . .
BSC Flashback – Esslemont Night of Knives reviews and interview
Just a bit of a relevant flashback. Tor is rereleasing Ian Cameron Esslemont’s Night of Knives next week and while we won’t be doing new reviews (that I know of) we have one at BSC (by Rob) and I did one at the Bodhisattva.
My Night of Knives review is one of my personal favorite reviews (more news after the jump) . . .
