The world seems to be demanding the presence of Charisma Carpenter as she lands yet another guest starring gig, this time on The Lying Game. Carpenter just appeared as an angry witch in an episode of Supernatural a couple weeks ago. Her role in The Lying Game will be a little more down to earth (translation: not involving witchcraft or the paranormal), but at first glance it seems a little… convoluted.

According to TV Guide, Carpenter is playing the role of Rebecca “Annie” Sewell, who makes a return to town, naturally bringing up old memories of her time there. But it also brings up old secrets, the type that were supposed to stay buried. Alec Rybak (Adrian Pasdar) and Ted Mercer (Andy Buckley) are interested in keeping those secrets from getting out, which could create some trouble for Rebecca. Now I mentioned Rebecca’s role as being convoluted and here’s why: she’s described as being the sister of the aunt of Sutton/Emma’s (Alexandra Chando) best friend. Really? What was wrong with simply making her just someone’s sister or aunt? Why the six degrees of seperation?

The Lying Game follows separated-at-birth twins, Sutton and Emma, who switch places without anybody noticing. Emma discovers Sutton’s adoptive family is hiding many secrets while Sutton searches for their biological mother in Los Angeles. So, it’s kind of like The Parent Trap only without the fun of trying to get the parents together because they’re not around.

Now this is more like it. “Shut Up, Dr. Phil” was a very entertaining episode of Supernatural for a number of reasons and was a great reminder of why, after six other seasons, I’m still here watching. This series forgot how to be scary a long time ago, replacing actual spooky moments with buckets of blood and gore. But in that process it learned how to be so funny you uncontrollably slap your knee. So while “Shut Up, Dr. Phil” is pretty week in the scare department, it was the strongest episode so far comedy-wise.

Meet the Starks. They’re your run-of-the-mill married couple. They have their issues. For instance, Don Stark (James Marsters) had an affair with a business associate and is now in the doghouse with wife Maggie (Charisma Carpenter). Strangely, the woman Don sleeps with dies under horrendous and mysterious circumstances. Coincidence? Heck, no. Maggie’s a witch. A powerful one at that, just being angry causes plants to die around her. Later on in the episode, we discover Don is a witch as well, and just as powerful. All the best moments come from these two. Dean and Sam get a chuckle once and again, but the Starks steal the show. They seem to only care for themselves,  everything pales in comparison to their marital woes. They have great chemistry, as they should,  knowing each other for years where  Marsters and Carpenter were co-stars on the cult favorite, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Hands down, the highlight scene was Sam and Dean acting as “marriage councilors”, which basically means they were tossed around by the two witches while trying to give advice. It was such a fun bit and I would love to see Don and Maggie again someday. They were a lot of fun to be around and it turns out their magic can take down a Leviathan, even if only temporarily. That’s big news and  I only wish Sam and Dean had made a bigger deal about this. Until now, these guys were unstoppable and Don just walked in and BAM, puts one to sleep. That’s a useful power the boys should think about somehow harnessing until they figure out how to properly kill them.

The misstep from an otherwise very enjoyable episode was the “bro talk” at the end. I have grown so weary of this “you’re not telling me something” conversation the boys have seemingly once every episode. It’s not interesting anymore. It’s quite the opposite, It’s lazy and has become boring storytelling. These brothers need to be at the point where they’re always communicating. I don’t care what Dean did. Killing Amy wasn’t even the worst thing he’s done,. This whole arc with Dean’s guilt would make a lot more sense if they had shown him struggling with the decision to gank Amy before he did it. In “The Girl Next Door”, it looked so easy for him, which made it all the more surprising and confusing that he felt any guilt over it.  I don’t think he just feels guilty for not telling Sam, though the whole mess is eating away at him.

Next week is a more Leviathan centered story, which I’m looking forward to. I have my fingers crossed that Dean comes clean to Sam. I just can’t fully enjoy myself while that plotline is dangling out there.

Time to get the full Supernatural Buffy-style dose of  Charisma Carpenter and James Marsters!  Boomtron has just received a large promo image gallery for “Shut Up, Dr.Phil”, the October 21st episode of the continuing chronicles of the Winchester brothers, from the CW. With Misha Collins’ Castiel out of the way for a moment (according to him, at least the next 10 episodes) there’s room for others for Sam and Dean to run into and pit their patent brand of humor and asskickery against.

Previously we were able to bring you only a single image of  two guest stars, but now have this full blown and very Carpenter and Marsters-centric gallery to offer. The former Buffy duo return, and do so as a couple, with Carpenter’s character Maggie being a witch on the rampage due to her husband’s (Marsters) infidelity. I know a lot of people will miss Castiel but I for one need some breathing room from what’s become the Supernatural saga that’s evolved from what used to be the weekly Dean and Sam taking names adventures. I LIKE Collin’s role a lot but I’m all about revisiting that thread later, especially if it adds to the Charisma uptake in my life. We’ve been hearing for some time now about the big Buffy the Vampire Slayer reunion that’s happening in an upcoming episode of Supernatural. I know most of you would love that reunion to involve Sarah Michelle Gellar and David Boreanez, but they’re both much too busy with their own shows (Ringer, Bones). Who we do get is James Marsters and Charisma Carpenter and, you know, that’s totally awesome in my book. I still have my fingers crossed for some heavy Buffy references.

TV Guide posted the first still image of the two together. I love how Marsters looks a combination of bored and annoyed. It’s a good look for him. To his left, Carpenter has her hands up like she’s going to cast a spell of some kind, and I’m sure that’s exactly what she’s doing given what Sera Gamble, Supernatural’s showrunner, has told us about the character. “Charisma plays a very powerful witch,” says Gamble. “In the episode, she starts throwing her power around because she and her husband are in the middle of a contentious divorce.”

That might explain Marsters facial expression. Divorce isn’t exactly going to make him thrilled. I’m quite excited for this episode, which airs Oct. 21. It feels like forever since we were given a really good episode with witches, and from the sounds of things this is going to be a whopper. I also expect it will have some pretty big laughs. How could it not poke fun at married life on top of the Buffy jokes that will be all too easy to make?

As Agent Pearce’s investigation closes in on Michael, he and Fiona are assigned a mission in the resort town of Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela, to extract a biological weapons expert initially known only as Cheshire. Meanwhile, Sam and Jesse wrangle a meeting with Pavel Stigler, who loaned money to Tavian Korzha (Andrew Howard), the man who framed Michael for Max’s murder.

In most episodes of Burn Notice, Michael applies his espionage training to various situations one might not associate with the world of espionage. “Better Halves,” on the other hand, felt like a full-fledged spy mission, at least one you might find in a spy novel or movie, like True Lies or Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

Michael and Fiona had to pick Cheshire from four couples who checked in to the hotel the same day. They ultimately identified Kevin and Nicki Skylar (Tom Gallop, Charisma Carpenter). Kevin was an American traitor who had sold his expertise to the Russians. The Skylars were rich, but they were also under constant watch by Russian bodyguards who posed as fellow couple Serge and Karina. In their roles as Brendan and Christina Jensen, Michael and Fiona had to befriend the Skylars and convince Kevin to sell out again.

From there, it was a matter of slipping Kevin and Nicki past Serge and Karina. The evasion plan led to what could be the best fight scene ever on Burn Notice, between Michael and Serge in a sauna, where neither man had access to any weapons or protective gear. Meanwhile, Fiona took Nicki to lunch, but Nicki’s nervousness and lack of experience tipped off Karina, who started shooting. Fiona and Nicki had to jump in the river and make a stand against Karina and reinforcements.

I’m a fan of Charisma Carpenter from TV’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. In this episode, though, she seemed to be over-acting. That fit her character’s nerves and lack of experience to an extent, but I also got the sense of a guest star who didn’t really fit the show she was on. Too bad. I’d been looking forward to her fitting in.

The key theme of “Better Halves” compared the trust between Michael and Fiona, despite their occasional spat, to the lack of trust between Kevin and Nicki. In light of the payday Michael promised, Kevin was prepared to leave Nicki behind to be killed by the Russians. By contrast, Michael went back to find Fiona.

In the B story, Sam and Jesse set up a meeting with Tavian Korzha through Stigler, but just before the meeting, they found Stigler dead. Korzha got the drop on Sam, saying he wanted to call a truce and meet with Michael. The meeting would be difficult to keep because Michael was in Venezuela at the time. Sam and Jesse tried to stall Korzha, but when Michael got back, Agent Pearce accused him of murdering Max, and took him into custody.

I’ve said all along that Pearce should never have trusted Michael to investigate Max’s murder because Michael was a suspect himself. I fell for the tease of the meeting with Korzha, and Michael’s arrest came off as a cheap tactic to stall the meeting. I wonder if, somehow, the meeting will still happen in next week’s summer finale.

Charisma Carptenter’s guest appearance on Burn Notice is fast approaching. Her episode is airing Sept. 1, and TVLine posted a photo of Carpenter in character. She plays Nicki, the wife of a physicist (Tom Gallop) who she discovers is working for the Russians. As you can tell from the expression on her face in the photo, she is not happy. “Basically, I hate my husband now because our lives are run by the Russians — he doesn’t want to spend any money or do anything — and that makes for an unhappy trophy wife, which is a bad combination,” said Carpenter on her character.

Charisma Carpenter and Jared Padalecki – SUPERNATURAL Season 7 Cheese

This is just the kind of job for Fiona (Gabrielle Anwar) and Michael (Jeffrey Donovan). The two of them will attempt to use the couple’s marital problems to coax Nicki in to giving up her husband. That requires listening in on a lot of there arguments. The picture above happens to take place during an extravagant ball just after one of those fights. “She’s all dressed up and has no one to enjoy it with!” The rest of the episode promises to be rather fancy with the party setting. There will be some dancing and plenty of alone time for Michael and Fiona.

Charisma Carpenter Guest Starring in Burn Notice

Carpenter is keeping herself busy as of late. On top of Burn Notice, she’ll be guest starring in an episode of the new season of Supernatural, where she will be playing a witch. The episode reunites her with former Buffy the Vampire Slayer cast member James Marsters.

You know the easy on the eyes actress Charisma Carpenter as Cordelia Chase of Angel and Buffy fame, but fans will get to know the actress all over again thanks to Supernatural on the CW. What you see up above is Carpenter cheesing along side actor Jared Padalecki. Carpenter is a natural choice for guest star to Supernatural. She tweeted the pic along with the caption: ” @jarpad and @AllCharisma. Hanging’ onset. First Day. New girl. Making’ friends.”

SUPERNATURAL Season 7 Charisma Boost

Carpenter has been a guest star on Charmed, Greek and Burn Notice (episode: “Better Halves”). She will appear in the Supernatural episode called “Shut Up, Dr.Phil” as Maggie Stark on October 21st. That one will be episode 5 of the all new Season 7, which begins on the CW on September 23rd. The season premier is called “Meet the New Boss”. Dun dun dun! Jared Padalecki Jensen Ackles return as your favorite spooky brothers. Bobby Singer, Crowley and Castiel will also be along for the ride. Who else would you like to see guest starring on the series?

Charisma Carpenter Guest Starring in Burn Notice

Something you may not have known about Charisma Carpenter is she has made AskMen’s Top 99 Most Desirable Women lists twice, in ’02 and ’05. In 1994 she appeared on Baywatch and a year later on Boy Meets World. She ought to drop in on Sarah Michelle Gellar’s new series, Ringer, don’t you think?

A couple days ago, Charisma Carpenter let her fans know she was going to be on The CW’s Supernatural via her Twitter account. This is fantastic news. Carpenter is best known for her role as Cordelia Chase in both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off Angel. She should feel right at home in Supernatural. And how exactly did Carpenter react to being cast?

“My people called me yesterday to see if I wanted to do it and I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’d love to go to Vancouver in the summer!’” Carpenter said. “It’s probably one of my all-time favorite cities.”

Aw, thanks for the love Charisma!

Speaking of Buffy, another former cast member will appear in Supernatural. TVLine reported that James Marsters, who played the vampire Spike, will join Carpenter in the show’s fifth episode, titled “Shut Up, Dr. Phil” (gotta love those Supernatural titles!), where they will be play husband and wife. “This episode is ‘Bewitched gone wrong,’” says showrunner Sera Gamble. “[It was] all upside for this successful man (Marsters) while he was married to the witch (Carpenter), but now that he’s pissed her off, the whole town is paying the price.”

Supernatural Season 7 – Sheriff Back in Town?

So not only are we getting a big Buffy/Angel reunion, but also we’re getting the return of witches to Supernatural. What a splendid gift to us! I will be heavily disappointed if the episode is chalked full of references Buffy. Supernatural wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to add some tongue-in-cheek jokes just for fun. Filming for the episode begins the week of August 22.

Burn Notice has gotten itself a bombshell of a guest star coming up. TV Line reports that Charisma Carptenter will break necks when she walks by viewers during episode 11 of Burn Notices’s fifth season. You might have seen Carpenter in last years The Expendables, but those like me will know her from her days as Cordelia on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.

Carpenter will be playing Nicki, a “high maintenance trophy wife” who’s married to a bioweapons engineer who has been working with the Russians. As with most trophy wives, she’s not entirely happy with the marriage, which makes her perfect for emotional manipulation. Count on Michael exploiting their marital problems in order to get to her husband.

This gig might be a dream come true for Carpenter, who told TV Line she is actually a big fan of Burn Notice and cable television in general. “I love White Collar and Burn Notice, and I am also obsessed with Sons of Anarchy, Shameless –- I cannot miss an episode — and Californication has been a huge favorite for years. I think Natascha McElhone is probably the most stunning woman that ever walked the Earth. [The cable networks] are just slammin’ it with the great shows.”I’d have to agree with her on that. While no network, cable or otherwise, is perfect, there has been an incredible amount of phenomenal television being pumped out these days. Being a part of such a good show like Burn Notice would be an honor for anyone who watches it from home.

Charisma Carpenter (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel) is leaving the mainstream to take the indie route, according to JoBlo and her own Twitter feed.

A few days ago, Carpenter shared on Twitter, “No hints! Starting a movie Monday for about 3 weeks. Small independent,” and then followed up a little later with, “’Sibling Rivalry’ I will play twins! Rock climbing involved. – YAY”

It turns out that ‘Sibling Rivalry’ is actually Deadly Sibling Rivalry, but you really can’t complain when you’re breaking news in 140 characters or less. The film is being directed by Hannelle M. Culpepper and the script was written by Steve Peterson and John Murlowski. Check out the synopsis below:

Identical twins Janna and Callie have always had a sibling rivalry competing for their father’s love. After a horrific climbing accident kills their father, the twins grow further apart and carry out their lives in the wake of the tragedy. Janna gets married and has a daughter while Callie floats from one job to the next, getting tangled in illegal dealings. After a near fatal crash puts Janna into a coma, Callie secretly steals her sister’s identity in an attempt to start over with a new life and keep her sister out of her way. Callie stops at nothing to seek revenge on a sister that has always had the seemingly better life.

Carpenter actually shared the news on Twitter last week (Feb. 17) so filming should already be under way.

You’ve probably seen Carpenter in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off Angel as Cordelia Chase, and she’s in next year’s The Expendables by Stallone.
