Charlie Huston and WALKING Dead Camp on a FURLOUGH at FX
Interest over at FX for a series called Furlough, created by novelist/comic book writer Charlie Huston and The Walking Dead producer Circle of Confusion, has been kicked up. Michael Dinner is reportedly attached to direct any pilot that is commissioned, with Sony TV producing.
Charlie Huston Interview – part 2 video
I could start the second introduction to my interview with Charlie Huston by providing more quotes from authors and news agencies who’ve heaped praise on Huston’s impressive body of work; instead I’ll simply congratulate him on his recent Edgar award nomination for his extraordinary novel, The Mystic Art for Erasing All Signs of Death. With [...]
Charlie Huston Interview – part 1 video
Writing my introduction to my interview with Charlie Huston is an easy one, because all I really need to is quote the massive amount of praise that’s been heaped upon the Southern Californian novelist over the last six years.

Charlie Huston’s The Mystic Arts of Erasing All Signs of Death for HBO
I either missed this when it came out or I didn’t process it at the time. Either way this is old at this point. Alan Ball, a producer who gets things done (True Blood, Six Feet Under), dropped the an interesting quote while giving an interview in the Sydney Morning Herald back in November.

Charlie Huston’s Already Dead & Hank Thompson trilogy – Read them for Free
One of our contributors, Aaron Tieser, brought to my attention that BSC favorite-Charlie Huston recently posted news about some of his books being made including the outstanding Already Dead (check out Brian’s review). This is a great opportunity for people who haven’t jumped on board yet, perhaps disbelieving that somebody could make vampire(s) remotely interesting and actually kick-ass. You now have your free chance to read it, and more.

SYNERGY – Childhood Scary Stories

Synergy is back! This is the fourth installment of the feature, and the first under my dictatorship as BSC’s editrix. If you haven’t seen this column before, the basic idea is that we put the same question to a variety of professionals (and sometimes amateurs) who interest us to create a plateful of amuse bouche interviews. This time around we took the question straight to some of the hottest names in horror, comics, urban fantasy, and more.
The question? What was your favorite scary story as a kid? The answer could be anything from an urban legend to “vampires” to a specific book or movie or comic. Anything at all…as long as it was something especially striking to you….
Respondents range from bestselling writers like Charlaine Harris and Carrie Vaughn, to grand masters like Joe R. Lansdale and Brian Lumley, to noir/crime writers like Jimmy Palmiotti and Charlie Huston, and more. If you missed our previous installments of Synergy, go check them out.
If you’ve already read those, take the jump and read our latest!

Jan-ken-pon – The word on Charlie Huston’s My Dead Body & Daniel Abraham’s The Price of Spring

Okay, these are some thoughts on two books I’ve recently finished, one released in July, the other coming out in October. One from Tor, the other from Del Rey, so both from houses with big yards, both from authors I’m familiar with (at least their work), and both continue & conclude previous adventures. These are brief thoughts on Charlie Huston’s My Dead Body, and The Price of Spring by Daniel Abraham. You can check out my preliminary thoughts I expressed on each within my Now Reading posts (here and here). As an aside, I’m not saying they will always occur, or even that they will occur at all, but if you’re the type who avoid spoilers at all costs, you may just want to take a pass.

Jan-Ken-Pon – Now Reading: My Dead Body by Charlie Huston

Just thought I’d note what I’m reading at the moment. It’s scheduled to be published in the U.S. in October and in the UK in December. This is Charlie Huston’s fifth novel depicting the adventures of Joe Pitt, and about 50 pages in I feel like we are back on track in a series that really surprised me, as getting me interested in any vampire Vampyre related novel is close to an impossibility. The first novel is the hook and full of energy–it’s legitimately hard not to like.
