The Dragon’s Path by Daniel Abraham – review
Publisher’s Description: All paths lead to war… Marcus’ hero days are behind him. He knows too well that even the smallest war still means somebody’s death. When his men are impressed into a doomed army, staying out of a battle he wants no part of requires some unorthodox steps. Cithrin is an orphan, ward of [...]
Wild Cards: Suicide Kings ed. by George R.R. Martin – review
Suicide Kings, as the third book of the Committee triad, follows the tradition established by Jokers Wild, the third book of the original Wild Cards triad. While the two preceding books were always composed of alternating chapters penned by the different contributing authors, Suicide Kings is a true mosaic novel in which all of the contributions are edited together into a single continuous story.
Wild Cards: Inside Straight ed. by George R.R. Martin – review

The core narrative of Inside Straight is maintained by Daniel Abraham through the perspective of his character Jonathan Hive: superpowered “ace,” blogger, amateur journalist, and reality TV show contestant. Yes, a reality TV show about superhumans trying to win a million dollars and win the title of “American Hero.” I know, it sounds like a horrible idea, but Martin, et al., really made it work.

Jan-ken-pon – The word on Charlie Huston’s My Dead Body & Daniel Abraham’s The Price of Spring

Okay, these are some thoughts on two books I’ve recently finished, one released in July, the other coming out in October. One from Tor, the other from Del Rey, so both from houses with big yards, both from authors I’m familiar with (at least their work), and both continue & conclude previous adventures. These are brief thoughts on Charlie Huston’s My Dead Body, and The Price of Spring by Daniel Abraham. You can check out my preliminary thoughts I expressed on each within my Now Reading posts (here and here). As an aside, I’m not saying they will always occur, or even that they will occur at all, but if you’re the type who avoid spoilers at all costs, you may just want to take a pass.

Jan-Ken-Pon – Now Reading: The Price of Spring by Daniel Abraham
I just finished Charlie Huston’s My Dead Boy (the subject of my last ‘Now Reading’–and I’ll have a brief review up in the future) and while there are some pretty cool galleys out right now for books being published a it later in the year, I wanted to first close out Abraham’s Long Price Quartet.

Okay fellas, got another hot exclusive for you. This is an exclusive excerpt from Unclean Spirits by M.L.N. Hanover, the first book in The Black Sun’s Daughter sequence. I want to thank Mr. Abraham and Pocket, and I’ll be damned if this doesn’t look all kinds of sweet.
Exclusive – An Autumn War by Daniel Abraham (Chapter Excerpt)
Three men came out of the desert. Twenty had gone in. The setting sun pushed their shadows out behind them, lit their faces a ruddy gold, blinded them. The weariness and pain in their bodies robbed them of speech. On the horizon, something glimmered that was no star, and they moved silently toward it. The [...]
