The Playboy Club – Pilot Review – The Tamest Risqué Show Ever
With success of Mad Men on AMC it was only a made of time before the major networks tried to copy the formula. The Playboy Club is the first of the two 60s oriented shows to air this season. From the title alone the Parents Television Council wanted to ban it. It was banned in [...]
CSI: Miami – “Show Stopper” – review
For the first new episode of the year, CSI: Miami asks the question: What if Hannah Montana pulled a Michael Jackson? Let’s be honest–Jackson’s notorious hair fire of 1984 is now pop culture legend. Montana is a current legend. The actress/singer in this week’s episode may be named Phoenix, but we all know who she’s standing in for.

CSI: Miami – “Count Me Out” – Review

I really enjoy when the writers come up with something different. They did so in episode ten, “Count Me Out.” They gave us a game-changing event for one character, but, first, they gave us a nifty panning shot–sans music–of an empty warehouse. Jesse and Walter are there, guns drawn. With no warning, Jesse raises his gun in Walter’s direction. There is yelling. There is gunfire. There is a cut with the words “Eight hours earlier.” Good hook to catch the casual viewer and more than enough for us CSI: Miami fans to want to know more.

CSI: Miami – “Kill Clause” – Review
One of the best things the Vegas CSI did last season was have a smaller subplot that played out over multiple episodes. They showed a little here and a little there, and it all added up to the big episode later in the season. I saw a little of that in last night’s CSI: Miami episode when it came to Jesse’s past and the mysterious woman.

CSI: Miami – “Point of Impact” – Review

Hate to say it, but the only thing I was looking forward to last night was the end of CSI: Miami’s eighth episode of the season, “Point of Impact.” After last week’s cool but ultimately disappointing CSI Trilogy, everyone knew going in that it was going to be back to normal for the police in Miami. I think the creative team could have come up with a stronger episode to lure in casual viewers who may not watch CSI: Miami on a regular basis but who, last week, tuned in for the big crossover event.

CSI: Miami – “Dude, Where’s My Groom?” – Review
As a guy, and a married one at that, I always have the same idea when it comes to bachelor parties: you ought to have one the night before a first date with any lady. If she’s the one, by the time you’ve popped the question, chances are you are way past strip clubs and lasciviousness. Thus, the bachelor party thing is only a recipe for disaster. And we certainly have a disaster in the making here in Miami: on her big day, Bride-to-be Kim is distraught because her fiancé is missing.

CSI: Miami – “Bad Seed” Review

If I learned one thing about tonight’s CSI: Miami episode, “Bad Seed,” it’s this: always wash produce before eating.
In what may be Eric Delko’s swan song, the show focused on him to a great extent tonight. He and former ME Alexx are chatting about leaving MDPD when paramedics barge into the ER. A young woman is on the cart, her boyfriend, Ethan, trailing behind.

CSI: Miami – “In Plane Sight” Review
Breaking: Bernie Madoff killed in private plane. Man who scammed millions out of billions found in sewage, police say. Parade marking the celebration planned for tomorrow.
That’s basically the story the writers of CSI: Miami ripped from the headlines and injected into Episode 4, “In Plane Sight.”

CSI: Miami – “Bolt Action” Review

Leave it to the folks at CSI: Miami to give the ladies at home something young, taut, and male upon which to feast their eyes. Four hot (so I’ve heard) young studs playing beach volleyball, shirtless (natch) in front of a bunch of gorgeous cougars. In the crowd, none other than Cheryl Ladd, looking radiant as ever, although it appeared she was drinking a beer with a straw. The ladies on the beach cheer, they applaud, they probably take bets on who lands which young man later that night. Except something happens: three of the guys clutch their chests in pain. Three guys fall over, dead, one guy, spooked and scared, yells for someone to call 911.

CSI: Miami – “Hostile Takeover” Review

With Eric Delko on forced leave (stemming from his new girlfriend, Calleigh, actually shooting him while he was in the process of committing a felony; relationships on cop shows are so complicated), enter Jesse Cardoza, former detective in Miami. If you remember last week’s premiere and its cool flashback origin story, Jesse’s last case for MDPD was the same case that launched Horatio’s crime lab as a viable unit. In the twelve years since, Jesse’s been a cop in LA. Today, he returns to Miami…and promptly gets himself taken hostage with four other people. The gunman holes them up in the bulletproof gun room and makes one request: I want to speak with Horatio Caine. Cue Theme Song (actually pretty cool as the drums fade slowly in while the camera pans to scared faces until Daltry’s scream).
