Top Five Off-beat Zombies!

By Stefan Petrucha on October 23, 2011

Halloween, and the shambling undead are getting into the damndest places.  Yes, from AMC’s The Walking Dead to the big budget adaptation of World War Z, zombies are everywhere.  But are all zombies created equal?  Nope!  Oh, sure, some get the big-time press, but what of those condemned to languish in the shallow grave of [...]

Halo in the Dreamworks?

Halo in the Dreamworks?

By Aric Mitchell on October 7, 2010

Following one of the most bitter partnerships gone to Hell in the history of Hollywood, between Universal and Fox, it looks like Spielberg’s Dreamworks is in the lead for a chance to appease the Halo gods at Microsoft and make a movie that sticks to the canon of the novelizations. Most industry insiders are aware [...]

If you purchased Halo 3: ODST, you were allowed a noteworthy perk today. On the game’s main menu was listed the option “Play the Beta”. That’s right. Halo Reach trailer

Halo Reach trailer

By Jay Tomio on December 13, 2009

As seen at VGA 2009 on Spike TV is the new trailer for Halo Reach–the next chapter of the Halo franchise. Hopefully BT will drop in and offer his thoughts on it! While not what anybody would call a hardcore Halo enthusiast, I think it looks okay but wasn’t quite as blown away as I thought I would be, having not played the game for years now.

Halo: Evolutions – Tobias Buckell, Karen Traviss, and Eric Nylund

Halo: Evolutions – Tobias Buckell, Karen Traviss, and Eric Nylund

Yesterday I received a press release from Tor announcing Halo: Evolutions, a collection of stories related to the gaming franchise that contains stories from writers like Karen Traviss, Tobias Buckell, and Eric Nylund. Traviss is basically behind the potential source material what every Star Wars fan better wish any future television of film is derived from–I love her work in that universe. Buckell is the author of some great recent SF with Crystal Rain, Ragamuffin, and Sly Mongoose, as well as Halo: The Cole Protocol. We’ve reviewed several of Buckell’s project and I interviewed him in 2008. Nylund is a veteran in the Halo universe penning several novels in that franchise and had his own Mortal Coils -a kick off to a series – published this year. We had Nylund on the BSC Beat for an interview as well.
