Kristen Stewart’s Snow White Adds Ian McShane as Head Dwarf
One Pirates of the Caribbean actor (On Stranger Tides, that is) is about to get dwarfed. No, it isn’t the same as getting punked, but I wonder if it’ll be similar to the Hollywood Hobbit making process. His name is Ian McShane. If you don’t know him as the high seas voodoo master, Blackbeard, you [...]
Ian McShane a King in Jack the Giant Killer
From pirate to king? Only in Hollywood is that type of promotion possible as THR brings word that Ian McShane, who plays Blackbeard in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, has landed the role of King Brahmwell in Bryan Singer’s Jack the Giant Killer. The New Line adaptation of Jack and the Beanstalk has [...]
The Pillars of the Earth – ‘Battlefield’ clips
Starz has got The Pillars of the Earth, and right now, so do you! The 8-hour “maxi-series” began with “Redemption” and BSC delivered teaser one and teaser two for fans. Next in the line-up is the “Battlefield” episode and here are three exciting clips. According to Starz Publicity, you can expect to see William apply [...]
The Pillars of the Earth Redemption (1.03) teasers
The Pillars of the Earth on Starz is as thought provoking as they come. Set in the 12th century, it examines themes of religion, politics, and architecture in not so merry olde England. We’ve got a pair of teasers to provide extra illumination into this literary adaptation project. Fans will want to examine the special [...]
The Pillars of the Earth – ‘Redemption’ (1.03) teaser
Earlier in the week we brought you a “Making Of’ featurette” for The Pillars of The Earth, an 8-part minseries on Starz based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Ken Follett. The series, which stars the likes of Ian McShane, Donald Sutherland, Rufus Sewell and Hayley Atwell, debuted last night and I’m [...]
Making The Pillars of the Earth – Starz Featurette
Set in the twelfth century, The Pillars of the Earth is the new Starz series, which illuminates the emergence of Gothic architecture and the intertwining rise of the Kingsbridge priory. It is based on the historical novel of the same name. It stars Ian McShane, Donald Sutherland, Rufus Sewell and Hayley Atwell (pictured above). Today [...]
The Pillars of the Earth teaser trailer from Starz
I know this is probably of interest to some readers. This is a trailer for the The Pillars of the Earth, the television treatment for incredibly popular novel of the same name by Ken Follet. Last month we told you that Starz had picked up the 8-hour maxiseries that stars some pretty heavy hitters like [...]
Starz lands Follett’s ‘The Pillars of the Earth’- stars Ian McShane
A lot of people like this book, and it’s one of the most frequent books I see or hear people mention over the last several years as a book they truly enjoyed. For me it wouldn’t matter if I liked the book or not, because Ian McShane automatically put any TV series on the “got [...]
Ian McShane – Black Beard in Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides?
I think my twitter friend JenHill may be happy. Talk about making moves to stall the tide of negativity and pessimism in a project. You put Ian McShane in any project and things are definitely getting better, and last week’s announcement of Penelope Cruz being added to cast of Pirates of the Caribbean 4 didn’t [...]
Pillars of the Earth taps McShane, Sutherland, and Sewell
I get hyped anytime Al Swearengen is involved in a new project (poor Kings), and this is a book that’s very interesting to me as it’s just one of those books that just seems to pop up in conversation anytime I’m around readers who are the non-uberbibliophiles. When I say non-uberbibliophile, I mean those of us who don’t have that certain streak of pretension. It’s one of those real solid books that sneak into mainstream success, not brilliant enough for the uberbibliophile to call or claim victory for our own set, but good for us not to completely hate on (perhaps kind of like a rich mans (or woman’s) Historian).
More after the jump . . .
