THE LORD OF THE RINGS: WAR IN THE NORTH – Another Lackluster LOTR title?
Snowblind Studios recently came to NYC to show off The Lord of the Rings: War in the North, with a fully playable level in tow. This is obviously the latest title in what’s become a huge gaming franchise, and if it feels like they’ve done all they can with it, you may be right. We’ve [...]
The Lord of Rings’ J.R.R Tolkien in Mirkwood Movie…in New York?
J.R.R. Tolkien created one of the best works of fantasy fiction in the world and now the author is getting the fantasy treatment himself in the upcoming film adaptation of Mirkwood. According to THR, Steve Hillard, the author of Mirkwood, has signed a deal with EMO films (EMO? Really??) to bring his fictional story of [...]
Fili and Kili – More Dwarves from Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit Revealed
Peter Jackson has a steep hill to climb, but the latest pics of dwarves Fili and Kili from MSN Entertainment reveal that he’s doing a pretty good job of tackling that mountain. LOTR introduced us to Gimli, and if you didn’t picture him whenever you had a book with dwarves in it, you probably pictured [...]

The Big Bang Theory – “The Precious Fragmentation” – review
On their way to pick up some takeout food, the guys are waylaid by a garage sale. In a $60 box of memorabilia, they find what they believe to be an actual prop ring stolen from Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings movies. They spend the episode fighting over possession of the ring. This episode [...]
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Blu Ray Trailer
Yesterday it was announced that Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy will be released next year on April 6th. These will not be the extended editions (which you kind of get the feeling would come out around the time that The Hobbit hits theaters). This basically means they don’t want me to buy it yet. The package will contain The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King looks light what include anything we haven’t seen before (though it will look better). It has a price of $99.98 attached to it, but its 30 bills cheaper for pre-order on Amazon now. Below is a trailer that Yahoo released for the Blu Ray.

The Beginnings of a Masterpiece: Original Manuscripts from The Fellowship of the Ring – Tolkien event at Radio City Music Hall
I’d probably go to this if it was in my hemisphere. I found this press release in a not too official email account (and thus a couple days late in posting), but what’s being displayed is not diminished at all due to the delay! If you’re a Tolkien or specifically a Middle-Earth head, and close to the city, you have to go check this out! I’m going to see if I can deploy some of the BSC army to check this out and do a report for us on the exhibit. I’m both a fan of the mythos and a bit of a vintage book collector, so this would be overload for me.

The director of the forthcoming The Hobbit films, Guillermo del Toro, has recently announced the return of Hugo Weaving and possibly confirmed the return of Ian McKellan and Andy Serkis to the Tolkien landscape during an interview with the BBC’s Simon Mayo. Weaving returns to reprise his role as Elrond, perhaps rejoining Mckellan (Gandalf) and Serkis (Gollum) in the film adaptations from the book chronicling the adventures of Bilbo.
