Bitter Night by Diana Pharoah Francis – review

Bitter Night by Diana Pharoah Francis – review

By amberdrake on December 11, 2009

bitter nightBitter Night is the first in a new series by Diana Pharaoh Francis. This is an urban fantasy with some interesting new twists, and the first book I have seen from this author in a contemporary fantasy setting. Expect to see some mythological beings that are not standard fare and some twists on others.

Hellbound Hearts ed. by Paul Kane and Marie O’Regan – review

Hellbound Hearts ed. by Paul Kane and Marie O’Regan – review

By Douglas Cobb on November 29, 2009

Hellbound-hearts
A veritable feast of twenty-one Cenobite tales is served up for your pleasure and pain in the anthology of horror short stories, Hellbound Hearts, based on Clive Barker’s novel The Hellbound Heart and his Hellraiser series of movies. Reading them will satisty your most twisted desires, your need to be sated, by the latest and the best stories about the infamous Cenobite – Pinhead (named that for obvious reasons) – and his fellow associates in the sadistic Order of the Gash. The pain will rise from the creeping realization as you progress through the book that you’re also getting closer to the book’s finish, and a return to the mundane, everyday world of reality – ugh!

Book Review – Arthas: Rise of the Lich King by Christie Golden

Book Review – Arthas: Rise of the Lich King by Christie Golden

By dragonwomant on May 23, 2009

arthas1Fans of the World of Warcraft Gaming Empire will probably be very happy with this novelization, which ties into events in Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. Fans of fantasy who are tired of quest or epic fantasy books that can double as both industrial doorstops and booster seats will be happy with this book, too . . .

Author: Chris Evans Publisher: Pocket Books Binding: Hardcover Publication Date: July 2008 A Darkness Forged In Fire is the first volume in the Iron Elves trilogy, and the debut of editor turned writer Chris Evans. Exclusive – Unclean Spirits by M.L.N. Hanover

Exclusive – Unclean Spirits by M.L.N. Hanover

By Jay Tomio on August 13, 2008

Okay fellas, got another hot exclusive for you. This is an exclusive excerpt from Unclean Spirits by M.L.N. Hanover, the first book in The Black Sun’s Daughter sequence. Most of you know the author better as Daniel Abraham, author of the sweet epic fantasy series from Tor, The Long Price Quartet (which we also have an exclusive to the latest novel in that quartet, An Autumn War, here as well). Unclean Spirits will be published later (December) this year by Pocket Books.

We got 3000 words from the Unclean Spirits.

I want to thank Mr. Abraham and Pocket, and I’ll be damned if this doesn’t look all kinds of sweet.
