The Warrior’s Way trailer hit the web yesterday, and as one who champions the greatness of Ninja Assassin, I am very excited about the possibilities that this may turn out the same way. The film stars international superstar Dong-gun Jang as an Asian assassin, who finds refuge from his bloodthirsty life in a forgotten western town after refusing his last job.

But Yang’s clan is not ready to let him go, and it will take the help of Geoffrey Rush and Kate Bosworth to show these thugs that Yang means business. Lots of CGI in the trailer, and while I don’t condone that, the film still has some real potential to bring the violence. Film still isn’t rated, so a guy can hope, can’t he? Even if this does end up getting slapped with the dreaded PG-13–sorry, but don’t need anymore Forbidden Kingdoms in my life–maybe we can hold out hope for an uber-violent DVD release. Maybe?

There are certainly examples that I think are outstanding films, but I'm not at all the guy that gets hyped over a certain performer and watches every movie they make no matter how bad the actual movie is (I sometimes wonder if this is a product of the rise of popularity of MMA and the and the like). I don't know, I've had my ass kicked a time or two (and if I can say so myself have dotted some eyes in my day) so I find that I have little fascination with watching people hit and choke each other. That said, this trailer for The Warrior's Way -which clocks in at almost 4 minutes- looks awesome. A mixture of Western, fantasy and asskickery. Directed and written by Sngmoo Lee and starring Kate Bosworth, Danny Huston, Geoffrey Rush with Dong-Kun Jang in the main role, this actually has a decent budget at almost $50 million. It’s also being produced by Barrie M. Osborne (The Lord of the Rings) and had another name, The Laundry Warrior, attached to it.

So far no release date or distributor, but I hope that changes soon!
