What happens when you mix the movie 300, Caligula and the HBO series Rome?
The answer is Spartacus: Blood and Sand. I had the privilege of an advance viewing of the first episode. This is one bloody, adrenaline- and sex-charged show, and I am officially hooked. I loved 300, and I was also huge fan of Rome. When I saw the previews for this new show, it looked like something I would enjoy, and I was right.

Spartacus: Blood and Sand trailer!
Presented at SDCC we get a look at the forthcoming series from Starz, Spartacus: Blood and Sand. This is honestly the first time I’ve heard anything about this show (and the first time I’ve heard Starz mentioned in several years). Trailer looks intense, and while the casting isn’t inspiring to fill the void left by HBO’s wonderful Rome, it looks to be a reason to check the channel out in 2010.
