Where The Wild Things Are – movie review

This most beloved children’s book gets a film treatment, and like many I went to the theatre with fond memories of childhood and reading Where The Wild Things Are. The film by Spike Jonze starts off very stylized as the audience sees the world through Max’s eyes and discovers a lonely boy with a vivid imagination, who is starved for attention. Right from the start of the film it felt flat and distant for me and somewhat unpolished.

We have over 7-minutes of footage via clips from the Spike Jonze adaptation of Where the Wild Things Are below. Not too long away from hitting theaters, so I’ve been expecting a bit more to pop up soon! Last month we got a set of character posters, and earlier, two trailers to gaze that bring the Sendak world to life.

The NY Times has ran a feature called Magical Mystery Tour, dealing with the art direction of the upcoming Spike Jonze adaptation of Maurice Sendak’s Where The Wild Things Are. As the process is explained, the bits are accompanied by five new images from the film. After you check out the images below, the feature is definitely worth the read. Just in this month we’ve got a lot of new Where the Wild Things Are news with new character posters, tv spots, and film one-sheet.
