Favorite Holiday Specials! – Synergy at BSCKids
It is that time of the year when people are watching holiday specials and wrapping presents for their loved ones. Well, I gathered some of the BSC team and did a Synergy where I asked them what their favorite holiday special was. While we got varied answers, I think A Charlie Brown Christmas may have gotten [...]
BSC Flashback – Synergy II & VanderMeer’s Building a Fantastical City

The day after Halloween, and it’s time for some BSC flashbacks. Since Synergy returned yesterday, I thought we’d highlight a previous edition – “The Love (stories) of our Lives?”. Also, since Jeff VanderMeer’s Finch is out (see review) and about now (bordering on officially/unofficially & reality/fiction) I thought we’d rerun an article BSC republished and now hosts by the author, “Ambergris: Building a Fantastical City”.
More after the jump…
SYNERGY – Childhood Scary Stories

Synergy is back! This is the fourth installment of the feature, and the first under my dictatorship as BSC’s editrix. If you haven’t seen this column before, the basic idea is that we put the same question to a variety of professionals (and sometimes amateurs) who interest us to create a plateful of amuse bouche interviews. This time around we took the question straight to some of the hottest names in horror, comics, urban fantasy, and more.
The question? What was your favorite scary story as a kid? The answer could be anything from an urban legend to “vampires” to a specific book or movie or comic. Anything at all…as long as it was something especially striking to you….
Respondents range from bestselling writers like Charlaine Harris and Carrie Vaughn, to grand masters like Joe R. Lansdale and Brian Lumley, to noir/crime writers like Jimmy Palmiotti and Charlie Huston, and more. If you missed our previous installments of Synergy, go check them out.
If you’ve already read those, take the jump and read our latest!
SYNERGY – Back in the Day Gems?

Synergy is back! This is the third installment of the feature, and the first under the BSCreview banner! For newcomers, the basic gist is that one of our contributors offers a single question for our other contributors to give answer to. Beyond that, we go out and adopt talented outsiders who choose to become BSC la familia to participate. The question fielded this month was given to us by Brian, and we are taking it back today rekindling memories of our favorite childhood gems; be it movies, books, TV, comics whatever. We have a great field today full of award winning and hot new talented writers that include Charles Stross and Ken Scholes, to one of my all time favorite comic creators in Colleen (A Distant Soil) Doran, and we get Trekkie (and Fifth Element) credentials with Sonita Henry joining us who most recently was in the Abram’s Star Trek movie, that’s just taking over box office bragging rights!
I hope you all enjoy . . .
Synergy – The Love (stories) of our Lives?

Back with our second edition of Synergy, and I am just delighted with the group that we’ve assembled to participate this month! We have an actress (Brea Grant from Heroes!), editors and writers (from bestselling, critically acclaimed, and all around cool peeps) like Mark Chadbourn, Eileen Gunn, Lane Robins, Paul Malmont, Jim C. Hines, David J.Williams, Gregory Frost, Bonnie Burton (Star Wars in the house!), Carrie Vaughn, Marie Brennan, and Jeri Smith-Ready who join some of our regular contributors here at BSC in sharing our single favorite romances and love stories in fiction!
I hope you all enjoy!
Synergy – Your Prescription for Reading?
Alright true believers and truth speakers! Today, BookSpotCentral is kicking off the first of a new monthly feature we are calling Synergy. Basically, one of our contributors offers a single question for our other contributors to give answer to. Beyond that, we go out and get talented outsiders who choose to become BSC extended [...]
