Tomio’s Want List – DC’s ‘Wednesday Comics’ Hardcover Collection!

Real brief Tomio’s Want List entry! Saw this noted at The Source, who brought news from the weekend’s Baltimore Comic that DC’s AWESOME Wednesday Comics (which we talked about before here, here, here, here and here) will be rounded up into a hardcover collection. Wednesday Comics has probably my favorite comic product of the year thus far, and features an amazing cast of talent, showcasing just a sample DC’s wonderful gallery of characters.

Jan-ken-pon – Tomio’s Want List: Alan DeNiro’s Total Oblivion, More or Less
Tomio’s Want List is a subpostgenre of Jan-ken-pon (which has no known boundaries) that showcases items I run into that have to find here way on to my shelves, man-compound, longbox (with mylars), or deposit box. Usually, these are pretty much off the cuff, and often times (like most desires) are based on very little reason. There is reason here though, as you well know if you have had the pleasure of reading Alan DeNiro’s collection Skinny Dipping in the Lake of the Dead, which was published by Small Beer Press, and in line with the quality you’d expect from everything they publish. Via twitter today I was led to this baby though.

Jan-Ken-Pon – Tomio’s G.I. Joe Want List for Max Brooks and IDW

Special addition of the Tomio Want List today! During SDCC it was announced that IDW had tapped novelist Max Brooks (The Zombie Survival Guide and World War Z) to write a five issue G.I. Joe series, each featuring a JOE and Cobra character. One character had been confirmed, and it was both the best and most obvious choice of Firefly. If you’re working outside of the half dozen of so central characters, Firefly is easily the coolest character out there, and I’d imagine the #1 choice of most people that are at least somewhat familiar with the franchise.

Tomio’s Want List – October Dark by David Herter
We don’t run a ton of press releases because A. I tend to find them boring and B. Where do you stop? C. You get to a point where there has to be a paper exchange to post that information. Sometimes though something catches our eye, and seemingly for the most trivial of reasons.
For these occasions there’s Tomio’s Want List….
Jan-Ken-Pon: Tomio’s Want List – I, Zombie by Chris Roberson and Mike Allred

A bit late on this but Chris Roberson has always been cool people (and a talented writer) and Mike Allred is simply one of my favorite comic creators ever. A couple days ago it was announced that the two would be collaborating on a new series for DC’s Vertigo imprint. Anything the creator of Madman does gets on the Tomio Want List.

Jan-Ken-Pon: Tomio’s Want List – Nocturnes by Kazuo Ishiguro
The guy is probably my favorite writer on the planet. Most recently we’ve been talking the film adaptation of his fantastic Never Let Me Go at BSC. Today, I ran across this book trailer for Nocturnes, a collection by Ishiguro coming out this month.

Jan-ken-pon: Tomio’s Want List – Bryan Talbot’s Grandville
Bryan Talbot is one of my favorite creators in the (any) business, as his The Adventures of Luther Arkwright is in my essential comic book/fictional reading list. You add his contributions to Nemesis the Warlock (people just need to scoop up all of those stories by all the creators) and Alice in Sunderland and you can’t come away with away any other conclusion. I got an email today telling me about this trailer for Grandville, his latest project that he’s described as an anthropomorphic steampunk detective-thriller.

Jan-Ken-Pon – Tomio’s Want List: new Daniel Clowes
The New Yorker has added to the Tomio Want List (I have a couple of these on deck, none quite as long as my Dave Stevens spewl).
Looks like some new Daniel Clowes coming up . . .
Jan-ken-pon: Tomio’s Want List – Hi-Fructose
Jan-ken-pon! Bottom line (starting off with the bottom line) anybody who simply just even likes art needs to check out this magazine. I just want to take a sec and point some people to this publication.

Jan-ken-pon: Tomio’s Want List – The Complete Rocketeer by Dave Stevens (IDW)
These are just posts where I share something I see that goes beyond I want it and I’m copping it, and are more along the lines of I’d go Order 66 on the world if I have to score me a copy.
I guess it was unofficially started during Noir Sunday last week with the next Pynchon book . . .
