Cowboys and Aliens Is As Dry and Tough As Jerky
I love anything with aliens, but what I love even more is an original take on anything with aliens. I also love me some Jon Favreau; so, naturally, I was stoked for this genre bender. But my months of anticipation quickly fizzled as I found myself looking at my watch thirty minutes after the lights [...]
Strong At the Break by Jon Land – review
What do drug smuggling across Canada’s border, a sex slavery trade based in Mexico, and a double-amputee Iraqi war veteran have in common? That’s what Caitlin Strong, a modern-day fifth generation Texas Ranger has to figure out in Jon Land’s Strong At the Break, the heart-racing page-turning third novel in his Caitlin Strong series. Though [...]
Will Smith in Tarantino’s Django Unchained?
A little Twitter bird recently revealed that Quentin Tarantino’s spin on the ‘spaghetti western’ is called Django Unchained, and THR now reports that Will Smith, otherwise known as box-office gold, is the frontrunner for the film, which might also star Samuel L. Jackson and Cristopher Waltz. While Tarantino would like to have Smith in the [...]
Geek Girl Navigating the World – The Genre Blender
One of my favorite poems in the world actually appeared in the Berke Breathed comic strip Bloom County: I would not mind if I should find a blue whale in my soup Nor would I mind a porcupine inside a chicken coop Yes life is fine when things combine like ham in beef chow mein [...]
Quentin Tarantino Making a Spaghetti Western?
No movie genre is safe when Quentin Tarantino is around. He’s covered cheesy horror (From Dusk Til Dawn), pulp fiction (Pulp Fiction), war movies (Inglourious Basterds) and 70’s ‘grindhouse’ (Grindhouse); now he’s taking on the beloved ‘spaghetti western,’ according to Ain’t It Cool News. The info first came to light when Italian actor Franco Nero [...]
True Grit – review
True Grit is the latest movie from the Coen brothers, and their best since No Country for Old Men. It convinces me that they should stick to movies that are not comedic in structure but simply in tone; this is a revenge story layered with dark humor, but the characters and the situations are always, [...]
Megan Fox, Axe and Gun in Jonah Hex clip
No longer in Transformers 3 (though Michael Bay found a BSC approved replacement) but will be starring opposite of Josh Brolin, who got a Fox-less (not liking this theme at all) gunfight scene revealed via a clip yesterday. This Jonah Hex clip actually hit the web via MSN before the Brolin scene, but I missed [...]
Red Dead Redemption – review
It’s the little things that make it great. Red Dead Redemption, Rockstar’s latest entry into the open world genre they helped create with Grand Theft Auto, is also their best achievement to date. There was a lot of praise directed at Grand Theft Auto 4 when it released (and deservedly so), but Red Dead Redemption [...]
Megan Fox and Josh Brolin – Hex TV Spots
A couple of new TV spots for Jonah Hex out and though they themselves share some footage with each other, they do give us looks we didn’t see in April’s trailer, offering up fresh looks at Michael Fassbender’s ‘Burke’ and Will Arnett’s ‘Grass’. Last week we posted a a set of character posters giving us [...]
Megan Fox and Comics in May! – ‘Jonah Hex: No Way Back’

I saw this earlier, but better late than never! It’s only right that DC should be putting Jonah Hex product in unison with the film starring Josh Brolin and Megan Fox. (it has caused All-Star Western#10 to heat up!). News out of Baltimore (via the Source) is that the current writing team of Jonah Hex, Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti, will be writing an OGN called Jonah Hex: No Way Back.

Denzel Washington, Oldman in new Book of Eli trailer
New trailer to add to the one we got back in July for Denzel Washington’s The Book of Eli, a film by the Hughes brothers that should be hitting theaters in January. This is the type of movie that as an SF fan is hard not to be at least slightly intrigued by, especially with the cast it has even beyond Washington.

Madchen Amick cast in Priest
Variety is reporting that Madchen Amick wil be in Priest, joining a cast that already features Paul Bettany Karl Urban, Maggie Q Stephen Moyer and Lily Collins. I remember Amick as Shelly Johnson from Twin Peaks, but more recently viewers have seen her in Showtime’s Californication (Janie) and CW’s Gossip Girl (as Catherine). Priest, is [...]
