By Brody Gibson on October 31, 2011

George R. R. Martin, author of the enthralling A Song of Ice and Fire saga, has made a deal with SyFy Films to bring another of his works to life. HBO launched the first season of Game of Thrones, based on A Song of Ice and Fire, earlier this year to critical and fan praise. [...]

Wild Cards I – edited by George R. R. Martin – review

By dragonwomant on November 23, 2010

I’m not always a fan of super-hero comics or books; most of the time I honestly tend to prefer super-hero movies.  I’m not sure why that is, but as a general rule, I even love the horrible campy super-hero movies, too.  However, there has been a series of books that I’ve wanted to read ever [...]

Wild Cards: Suicide Kings ed. by George R.R. Martin – review

By Aaron Teiser on December 17, 2009

suicidekingsSuicide Kings, as the third book of the Committee triad, follows the tradition established by Jokers Wild, the third book of the original Wild Cards triad. While the two preceding books were always composed of alternating chapters penned by the different contributing authors, Suicide Kings is a true mosaic novel in which all of the contributions are edited together into a single continuous story.

Wild Cards: Busted Flush ed. by George R.R. Martin – review

busted flush

Busted Flush is the nineteenth book in the Wild Cards continuum and the second book of the Committee Triad. The story basically picks up where the opening book of the triad, Inside Straight, left off. The recently formed Committee, a team of superpowered aces enlisted under the auspices of the United Nations Secretariat, is flush with success and new recruits after a series of peacekeeping and disaster relief missions. Unfortunately for them, there is no rest for the righteous, and they find themselves faced with a triple threat of global crises.

Wild Cards: Inside Straight ed. by George R.R. Martin – review

inside straight
The core narrative of Inside Straight is maintained by Daniel Abraham through the perspective of his character Jonathan Hive: superpowered “ace,” blogger, amateur journalist, and reality TV show contestant. Yes, a reality TV show about superhumans trying to win a million dollars and win the title of “American Hero.” I know, it sounds like a horrible idea, but Martin, et al., really made it work.

George R.R. Martin Wild Cards News

By Jay Tomio on May 1, 2009

busted-flushOver at his (not a) blog, George R.R. Martin has announced some Wild Cards related news. Wild Cards is a very interesting property with almost unlimited potential and it’s one of those that I always look at and see if it will ever make interesting moves. I’ve always felt that it was simultaneously an underrated and untapped property (to its potential).
