This game does an excellent job of filling you with dread, fear and sadness. A war that cannot be won. Everyone buying time until the last breath of organic life. The visuals and sound are astounding, this is by far the most complex and heart wrenching video game series of all time. It’s hard to get it out of you head (maybe I’m being indoctrinated).
The second game was so much lighter in comparison which is saying a lot. I think a lot of people (including myself) didn’t understand what the reapers where capable of and it wasn’t a war that could be won with firepower, it also had to be won with the mind. Now that I have played through the series again, it makes more sense and I no longer have the feeling I was cheated but instead I feel sad it is over.

I was born only 18 years ago and hence am only thorough two science fiction universes, halo and mass effect. I played the first two ME games and read all of the novels but never realised that reaper reproduction was through organic recycling. Until i read that sentence here i was like ‘meh’ about the reapers. But now i understand and truly am terrified.
